Kim Kardashian was quoted in Vogue magazine saying that she was now putting herself first in everything. She stated that for years she had put others first, but now she’s chosen herself over others. In an interview, the socialite was quoted as stating: “My 40s are about being Team Me. I’m going to eat well. I’m going to work out. I’m going to have more fun, spend more time with my kids and the people who make me happy.” The question is, does serving and loving yourself really bring happiness and fulfillment? Turning to the words of Jesus, we find Jesus saying that true fulfillment comes from loving others first.
John 15:13
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Jesus is our example because he not only told us what love is, but he showed us. Jesus came to die for our sins. For if we are united with Christ in a death like him, we will surely be united with him in a resurrection like him. Then Jesus gave his life on earth to be crucified for our salvation.
Through Jesus, we receive this great love and let it flow through our lives with its power. When we choose to live in the love of Christ, we can accept and receive the gift of God’s love. God helps us stay in our first love and focus on what we need to give after Jesus’ death; everything else is secondary. Show
Jesus told his disciples, “As the Heavenly Father loved Jesus, so I have loved you; stay in my love. “This is the commandment of Jesus, that His disciples should love one another, as I have loved you.
If you are a disciple of Jesus you will keep his commandment to love. If you keep the commandments of Jesus, you will remain in his love, just as Jesus kept the commandments of God and remained in his love.
