Four days later, Armstrong and Aldrin allegedly landed at the border of Mare Tranquillitatis. They then spent about two and a quarter hours together outside the spacecraft’s home, collecting 21.5 kg of lunar product to be brought back to Earth, taking pictures together along the way.  However, in an interview done with a 9 year old, Buzz told the young girl that they did not go to the moon.  This set off a firestorm of controversy, causing many authors to attempt to reword his statement.  One article reports that Buzz is talking about why we will never return to the moon instead of where he goes.

When Aldrin replied that “we didn’t go there” and “we didn’t go there,” he was referring to the fact that the United States has not sent missions to the moon since the last Apollo spaceflight took place in December 1972.  Likely story.
